Shapes!!! Jan. 13-16

Last week's popcorn word of the week- "like". Everyday the word is used in a shared writing activity. The special me of the day comes up with the sentence.

This week we have started learning all about 2D shapes and 3D figures. We will continue with this over the next several weeks. Naming, sorting, describing and comparing.

For guided reading we have started focussing on comprehension skills- retelling the story in sequence and making connections to other books or our own lives. Eg., "this story makes me think of..."

Shape finders- looking for 2D shapes around the classroom.

Building with 3D figures- exploring properties. Do they stack? Do they roll?
"The sphere won't stay on the top".

"I found a circle".

"Mat man is a rectangle"

Building castles.

This week's popcorn word of the week is "in".
There are many popcorn words in this sentence- "I, like, to, go, in".
That's the thing about popcorn words the POP up all the time!
